Ketevan Gvinepadze is a visual artist & photographer from Georgia, Tbilisi based in Barcelona. Her main artistic practice is based on research about genders and politics, building a visual language for concept which generally characterised by an autobiographical narrative alongside with the recent history of post-soviet country.
At Ketevan Studio small mixed media sculptures are turned into decorative jewelry accessories, inspired by the forms of Georgian culture and specifically the ancient Georgian alphabet, which has one and a half millennia of documented history. It’s like a symbolic act of archeological excavations, an allegory for biographical path as a try to reconnect with roots through the pieces, which once were carrying the purpose of communication and expression, but now are representing distance and unknown.
